Former Gap employee her (raises hand). Yes, ma’am. I worked night and weekend shifts at a popular Gap retail store to make extra money during the holiday seasons back in the day!
It was lot of standing on my feet, folding clothing, and helping customers find the right size :) I especially loved working the men’s floor, as male customers were more likely to take my opinion into consideration and appreciate help (ranging from trying out different jean cuts, and trusting my opinion on fit and outfits)! From my experience, the women customers were much more suspicious if I complimented them (I got no commission y’all), and never asked for outfit recommendations as they often had a clear vision of their look. The men, were more open to feedback and ideas.
As a Gap employee, we’d spend our days discussing which outfit we’d buy once we get paid, and pointing out the latest clothing to try out. I definitely was a fan of Gap and spent a big chunk of my paycheck on Gap-Gap-Gap, inspiring my friends and roommates to do the same.
